The GoFundMe for Patrick Clancy, husband of Lindsay Clancy, has raised $1,009,380 from more than 15,000 donations as of Friday morning, Feb. 3. The campaign was launched last week.
"This GoFundMe is intended to help Pat pay for medical bills, funeral services, and legal help," the campaign reads. "This assistance is especially needed because Pat will be unable to work for the foreseeable future as he weathers this painful, life-altering tragedy."
Patrick came home to find his wife had attempted suicide by jumping out of a second-story window at the couple's house at 47 Summer Street in Duxbury on Tuesday night, Jan. 24. The couple's three children were also found unconscious and with obvious signs of trauma inside the house.
Lindsay was taken to the hospital for treatment and was later charged with killing her 5-year-old daughter Cora and 3-year-old son Dawson the next day. Lindsay's 8-month-old infant Callan died the following Friday.
It has since been speculated that Lindsay was battling postpartum psychosis and that the mental illness allegedly drove her to strangle her children to death. Patrick published a statement on the GoFundMe page a day after it was created, asking the public to forgive his wife like him.
"The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone – me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients," he wrote. "The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace."
The situation has prompted many people to come forward and talk about their own battles with postpartum psychosis or depression, including those who knew Lindsay.
Jeri Lyn, of Meriden, CT, shared a video on her Facebook describing her relationship with Lindsay, struggle with postpartum depression and the importance getting help.
"Sometimes you need that little but more," Lyn said in the video. "You need the help. You need to reach out. You need to stop sitting silent."
Lindsay is still under police custody as she recovers from her injuries at a Boston Hospital. Her current condition has not been publicly released. Lindsay will be arraigned on homicide, among other charges, on Tuesday, reports said.
